Rare, vintage "Vote Democratic" tie clip with metal jaw clip. Heavy. Solid silver colored metal with red, white, and blue enamel, an articulated donkey perched in the "V" and a spellout "Vote Democratic".
Excellent vintage condition with minimal wear. I've never seen one like this. The geometric design, font, and the emphasized "V" in the design suggest late-40s, early-50s to me. It's not later than the 50s.
The clip weighs 13 grams, is 2 inches long, and 3/4 inch tall at widest point.
It's pretty amazing. Quite a conversation starter!
No makers mark that I could find.
