This is a mid 20th Century Greek
linen bag made from the hem of a dress,
cream colored, tabby weave, hand
woven with hand-spun thread, the
top half richly embroidered in colored
cottons, mainly in red, with some blue/
black, and beige. Seams at base and
center of one side, the stitching on seams
and rim all by hand. The placing of the seams
indicates that the bag is made from a single
flat band of fabric. Two handles are cords
threaded through metal holes in top of bag.
8" deep and 6.5" wide. We have based or
research on a similar bag in the
British Museum. Found at an Artist estate
sale in Vermont . Hang this little bag off
